2022 YMTA Scholarship Recipients

Brayden Davis (CAMM + Fremont Boat Co. Scholarship)

Brayden will continue his education at Skagit Valley College where he will join the marine technical program. His goal is to become a captain and marine technician.  Brayden receives hands-n experience as a deckhand with Island Express Charters.
Alexa Haucke (Goodfellow Fund + Mike Inman Scholarship)

Alexa will be attending the University of Washington to pursue her studies in marine biology and engineering. As a student at the Ocean research College Academy, her capstone project on ocean acidification was awarded a National Science Foundation’s Geopaths grant, and was presented at several conferences.
Rohan Sabhaya (Ocean Peace, Inc. Scholarship)

Rohan will continue his education at the University of Washington.  He will study mechanical engineering to compliment his passion for protecting the ocean.  An avid scuba diver, Rohan volunteers at the Seattle Aquarium to share his excitement about marine life.
Cade Weatherbie (Compass Courses + Elliott Bay Design Group Scholarship; CAMM Peter Chelemedos Bonus Scholarship)

Cade will join California State Maritime Academy this fall.  He earned his boater’s license at age 12, and ultimately wants to be a maritime captain for tugboats or a pilot for docking and undocking commercial ships on the West Coast or on Lake Michigan.
Ben Armstrong (Foss Maritime Scholarship)

Ben will be attending California State Maritime Academy.  After a childhood of visiting ports around the world, he is interested in working in the cruise and charter yacht industry, developing relationships with people from all corners of the globe.  Ben hopes to move up the ladder of command and earn his captain’s papers.
