A Master Captain is responsible for the wheelhouse, the crew and the vessel. These positions exist on any type of vessel.
While holding a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), the Master is considered the licensed, experienced officer and is in charge of the vessel.

As Master earns “Seatime” in combination with the required training, a Master can upgrade his MMC to a higher tonnage, different waters or Pilot license.
